- Jay Kidd, NetApp's (NTAP +0.6%) CTO since 2012 and a 10-year company vet, is retiring.
- Kidd: "With my youngest off at college, I will shift my time to pursue more personal interests and delve more deeply into the areas of advising and investing." Notably, he thinks NetApp is now too large to have single CTO overseeing product development.
- A NetApp spokesperson says the company has no plans to name a new CTO. "Our company has a strong team of technical leaders that has worked closely with Jay and will continue to advance NetApp’s innovation leadership."
- Kidd's retirement follows the recent departure of Brian Pawlowski, formerly the head of NetApp's FlashRay flash storage array line, to rival Pure Storage.
