The global automotive industry is facing a potential slowdown in production over the next few weeks, due to a severe shortage of a resin used to make fuel and brake components. The shortage is due to an explosion at a chemical plant in Germany’s Ruhr valley that crippled the manufacturing of a resin called PA-12, which is used in most fuel and brake-line coatings.
