- The number of rigs drilling for oil fell by eight this week to 660, the 23rd consecutive weekly decline but the fewest rigs taken out of U.S. oil fields since December, according to the latest survey from Baker Hughes (BHI).
- U.S. oil rigs have fallen from a high of 1,609 reached in mid-October, and U.S. drillers were operating 1,531 oil rigs at this time last year.
