Steel Dynamics to idle Minnesota ironmaking operations

• Steel Dynamics (NASDAQ:STLD -1.4%) says it is idling its Minnesota ironmaking operations in Chisholm and Hoyt Lakes for at least two years, citing the continued decline in pig iron pricing which has resulted in the cost of iron nugget production being meaningfully higher than product selling values.
• The shutdown, which is effective immediately, will affect ~200 workers.
