IBM, due to report after today's close, is working to integrate the large stable of analytics companies it has acquired in recent years. Software SVP Mike Rhodin claims the moves aren't simply about providing tools for analyzing past events (the focus of many "big data" projects), but to also predict future events. He adds IBM, which just bought sales/compensation analytics firm Varicent, plans to make additional analytics purchases.
