GM is recalling ~375K 2007 and 2008 model Chevrolet Silverado and GM Sierra heavy-duty pickup trucks equipped with passenger-side air bag inflators made by Takata, adding to the growing list of vehicles being recalled by automakers due to potentially exploding air bags.
- Also, Subaru says it will expand its recall of 2004 and 2005 model Impreza compact cars with Takata air bags to ~80K from 20K.
- Last week, the NHTSA agreed to double the number of air bag inflators it recalled to 33.8M but the makes and models were not available; 11 automakers now have vehicles included in the Takata recall expansion.
