The profitability of beef processors such as Tyson Foods (TSN) and Cargill could be at risk if lower demand for the textured beef called "pink slime" is seen amid more consumer backlash. The USDA says ground-beef sales fell 11% to 37.7M pounds in March - marking the smallest total for that month in 10 years.
