Argentina yesterday rejected Repsol YPF's (REPYY.PK) demand for $10.5B in compensation for its 57% stake in YPF, saying it hasn't invested enough in the country. Meanwhile, the U.K., which has its own spats with Argentina, has unsurprisingly backed Spain in the saga.

Normally I try to take a balanced view of world politics but I would be looking at this confiscation as a clear act of war if I was Spain. Great Britain thought so when Argentina tried to take over the Falklands many years ago. Argentina is playing a very dangerous game on the world stage and will ultimately be the loser if they continue down this pathway.
