- Fresh off Universal/Comcast's (NASDAQ:CMCSA) latest success with a historic opening for Jurassic World, Universal announced it's set Pitch Perfect 3 for release on July 21, 2017.
- The second film in the series was a solid hit in a year of hits for Universal. With $171M in domestic grosses, it's the sixth-biggest film of 2015, and an extra $89M worldwide brings its global total to $260M. The film cost about $29M to make, which surely prompted some quick action on locking in a sequel.
- Key stars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson will reprise their roles in the third film.
