A judge orders Richard Scrushy, former chairman and CEO of HealthSouth (HLS), to pay $2.88B in damages for helping to artificially inflate HealthSouth's earnings for at least six years. The judgment appears to be the largest financial penalty ever levied against a single executive.

    Finally some justice for the shareholders. Amazing how the federal criminal suit got mired up in the strange, race-based politics that is Birmingham, AL. Also amazing how they selected the twelve dumbest people in Jefferson County to sit on the jury.
