The FCC is investigating wireless handset exclusivity arrangements such as AT&T's (T) deal with the iPhone (AAPL) or Sprint's (S) deal with the Pre (PALM). Officials are concerned the deals may be hurting consumers and distorting industry competition.

No kidding. These exclusivity deals are time monopolies in disguise that are killing competition and driving up prices. Making it illegal to jailbreak the iPhone is absurd in a free economy.

Nasty, they've barely finished rolling out the wireless network which is far more time consuming than building a smartphone, and already they're being charged with collusion. By the time the network is finished the handsets will be absolete. Better still, iPhone's will likely launch in China.

US pays some of the highest prices on the planet for crappy handsets and crappier mobile service. Number 1 again!
