I don't understand. How is this acquisition going to be compatible with ETP maintaining the IRS distribution payout requirements for status as an MLP?

BRILLIANT ! I have owned ETE and ETP for 8 years. The unit price has wained lately but institutions kept accumulating units.i kept my units and collected the distributions and added more units on the dip. Mr Market often moves capital to the best execution and management. THE Energy landscape in N America is evolving and ETP is right "out front". Its one of those days I am glad I stayed focused on the investment thesis long term and not the short term chatter...Isnt capitalism truly amazing !
