IBM says it will no longer use Oracle's (ORCL) Siebel CRM software for its sales ops, and instead will rely on software from private SugarCRM. IBM says it was drawn to SugarCRM's flexibility, UI, and open-source nature. JMP Securities sees the deal as evidence of the challenges facing Oracle's traditional applications business from upstart vendors. Oracle has been acquiring cloud vendors (I, II) in an attempt to respond.
