Google (GOOG) is dipping its toes in the increasingly popular big data software space, announcing it will sell its BigQuery analytics tool to enterprises. Google plans to charge for both processing the huge data sets BigQuery is capable of handling, and for storing the data on its servers. Speculation exists that Amazon (AMZN) will also offer a cloud-based analytics platform, which could rely on its S3 storage service.
