"Something big is about to happen" that involves an Apple (AAPL) product, claims a source. The source adds she's seen a major increase in Apple-related auditing and customs paperwork, and is positive it has nothing to do with MacBooks or iPads. All signs point to the next iPhone not arriving until fall.

I think this is linked to the WWDC.

"It's the week we've all been waiting for."

The tagline is far different than what we normally see.

No worries. WWDC is the World Wide Developer Conference. Many of the largest developers of third party Mac OS X and iOS software attend this event to get a jump start on optimizing software for the next changes. They also pay for this and the number of attendees is limited. The advantage is that they can be sooner to market on various software than some other companies with whom they may compete. Sometimes there is a more public look at future software at WWDC, with this event expected to give some insight on iOS 6. A hardware announcement is less likely, but possible.

Short Apple if you dare but personally I'd rather fly a kamikaze mission because I think you'd have a better chance of surviving.

Lets hope not, I've got 85 shares on it @ 560 per. I'm thinking long term because of this Liquid Metal and new Nokia v. Htc v. Rimm (Think its a little to strategic to not have been planned.) Thoughts? I share your cantered thinking.

As long as you're not on margin with those 85 shares, you are sitting pretty for a great return in the next 12 months.

Please God, please let it be this BIG! the stock came back from $644 to $580! The stock could use some good, no exceptional news! It has to be exceptional ( not like AMZN coupling with SAP and the stock goes up 100 points ). So, what are in the pipeline -iphone 5, ipad3, itv. What else do we need. Oh, Oh yes, $50 eps for 2012!

$644 to $580 is a 10% drop. Certainly nothing to freak out about.

Relax buddy, that was profit taking. I invested BIG in October and it is nervewracking but I saw a 70% gain in 6 months on nothing but that one trade... You'd be mad not to take some profits after a run like that so I did as did many others, hence the 12% dip. But hey, Apple smashed it and the stock jumped back 10% overnight because AAPL don't disappoint. They opened up shop in India and China in perfect timing to extend the iPhone 4's life cycle to meet the launch of the 5 later this year AND there's some exciting talk of diversification for the near future.

The bulls are on the money with AAPL (my proof is in my trading account) but you've got to relax, there are so many trashy bearish AAPL articles on SA flogging 'analysis' to any nervy investor that will listen... what is most laughable is that the guys writing this trash don't even have the balls to short the stock!

    AAPL bear trash #1: http://goo.gl/zi6bA
    AAPL bear trash #2: http://goo.gl/2nB6I

    Go long and stay calm.

What a geat idea! I bet the iFridge would save a lot of energy and have a major impact on people's eating consciousness. Texts about worn or even dry seals, worn motors, cleaning needed alerts and energy usage statistics would be neat. Parents being able to manage what is in their college kid's ice box would be a big hit....kids have enough to manage. ifridge is a web nutritionist's playground in waiting. They would sell big on high end home (30 year life cycle) water filters, coffee makers, stand mixers and toaster ovens too - people can easily make their own breads and such without all the mystery ingredients. All appliances reporting in their health would save a lot of energy no doubt and maybe remind us to buy garlic or fresh beans on the way home.

So someone who works for UPS believes "[s]omething big is about to happen" because of an "increase in Apple-related auditing and customs paperwork", which "has nothing to do with MacBooks or iPads" nor in any way changes the fact that "[a]ll signs point to the next iPhone not arriving until fall."

    Why is this news?

So now we are listening to weirdoes who examine mail labels? What idiocy to draw such conclusions. It should come as no surprise, I suppose, given the abysmal forecasts so many SA bloggers made re apple's earnings.

Hummmmm, customs. Right away you think that maybe the market in Mainland China has opened, but then you realize that iPhones are made in Shenzen, China. You don't have to worry about customs when you ship to the same country you make the product in, right? It must me something coming here? Any thoughts?

If you look around you will see many well placed Apple Stores are closed with signs indicating they will re-open May 13th. Expect a remodel to accomodate the new iTV. Note this is timed with the opening of Applet stores in Target - where Target has chosen iPAD over kindle. You heard it here first!

Which stores are closed for two weeks? Two remodeled stores in my area stayed open during the remodel except for one day when they worked on the front of the store.

I travel quite a bit and haven't noticed any Apple Stores closed. There's zero chance that they'd close down a store for remodeling, they're the most profitable retail spaces in the world.

    What pee's me off is . . .

The stock is languishing in the sub 600 level and I'm inclined to sell covered calls.

And right after I do. News release, press conference, sky-rocketing stock value and I've lost my shares.

    DON'T DO IT GARY !

. . . I keep telling myself, but it's so hard to resist; the call premiums are so attractive. Let me just do it this one more time . . . or at least until I need glasses

OK, who got that one ?

You should sell covered calls, but I suggest selling the January 2013 750 calls instead. This way you get a lot of upside that you know over this time is coming, and you still get to collect some premiums from the covered call.

sabrina174: and wait until january for the calls to either expire worthless (which they won't - they'll be deep in the money) or have your shares called at 750 when the stock is closer to 8 or 900? no thank you, I'll write weekly and monthly, collect high premiums which pay for the shares I have or buy more ITM calls while readjusting my strikes as needed. Happy investing!!

The point is APPLE should never have been sold below 650 in the first place after their blow-out earnings. 500% growth in China? And everywhere else too. Total brand loyalty. East $850 in the next year IMHO.

Go long long long Apple and make a fortune. $1000 is inevitable. Kist a matter of time. It is the cheapest Fortune 500 stock there is, and the best company since Henry Ford.

If I were Apple, I would wait until Fall to release the latest iPhone. That would be a fantastic business decision. It rewards the folks who bought the 4S and therefore sets up a 5S scenario. Let's the margins and profits keep rising on a known good set of products that are still in high demand. Paves the way for price reductions on the 4S to drive even higher market share. And gives APPL more time to make double sure they get it right and do not have a mis-step on a flagship product.

As George H.W. Bush would say: "Not gunna release the new phone before Fall. Not gunna do it. Wouldn't be prudent."

It's funny how the APPL haters out there can frame the most brilliant strategy as a failure. If that's failure, can you sell me just a few more of your shares, please?
