Futures can't hold gains, turn south

  • In the green for much of the overnight session, U.S. stock index futures have turned lower in the last few minutes, with the Dow down 0.7%, and S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 closer to 0.5%.
  • Earlier, Mario Draghi promised more ECB-style QE, if needed, but Europe is lower by more than 1%. A few minutes ago, St. Louis Fed chief Jim Bullard renewed his call for tighter U.S. monetary policy.
  • Oil is back to its bear market action, down 2.6% to $41.79 per barrel, and gold is at a 5-year low, off 0.8% to $1,076 per ounce.
