  • Bob Stutz, previously the head of Microsoft's Dynamics CRM app business (competes with Salesforce's cloud CRM apps), is leaving to become Salesforce's (NYSE:CRM) chief analytics officer, and thus in charge of Salesforce's Wave/Analytics Cloud business intelligence/data visualization software.
  • Product chief Alex Dayon, whom Stutz will be reporting to: "Bob not only has deep enterprise software experience, he’s also a proven leader who’ll drive the vision and execution for the Analytics Cloud as we build it into a billion-dollar business for Salesforce."
  • In addition to Microsoft, Stutz has served as an exec at SAP and Oracle-acquired Siebel Systems, and was once an Army intelligence specialist. Keith Bigelow, who had been in charge of Wave from 2012 through its Oct. 2014 launch, recently stepped down from that role.
  • Salesforce updated Wave in September to include additional data dashboard and visualization tools. There have been reports the company is mulling discounts for Wave amid complaints about its steep platform license fee. Competition is provided by Tableau, Qlik, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, and (most recently) Amazon, among others.
  • FQ3 results arrive after Wednesday's close.
