- Bob Lord, president of AOL (NYSE:VZ), is leaving the company in order to pursue ambitions of running a public company.
- Lord had joined AOL in summer 2013 and was being groomed to succeed CEO Tim Armstrong. But his path was blocked when AOL was acquired by Verizon in May.
- “That’s my sweet spot,” Lord said of running a public company. “That’s what I really want to do. I haven’t gone out in the market and looked yet. Right now, I’m committed to making sure things are tied up at AOL.”
- At AOL, Lord helped steer the company toward programmatic advertising. He'll likely stay at AOL through the end of the year but his exact departure is undetermined.
