- Alaska Air (NYSE:ALK) says it will partner with plant-based jet fuel maker Gevo (NASDAQ:GEVO), as the carrier progresses from previous demonstration flights using Gevo's aviation biofuel to commercial flight sometime this year.
- ALK, which is looking at multiple biofuel possibilities, says it signed an agreement with Gevo because of the promise of its alcohol-based fuel technology.
- Gevo says LK will be the first airline to use a significant amount of fuel derived from the company's process of turning plant products into an alcohol called iosobutonal, from which jet fuel can be made.
