While the uproar over Scott Thompson's resume grabs the headlines, Yahoo's (YHOO) weakening display ad position may be its biggest problem. Display ad sales fell 4% Y/Y in Q1, and eMarketer estimates Yahoo's U.S. display share fell from 15.4% in 2009 to 10.8% in 2011, as competition from Google and Facebook intensified. The company is hoping its efforts to boost online video ad sales will give it a needed lift.
