Freddie Mac (FMCC.OB) is preparing to name Donald Layton as its next CEO, sources say. Layton, the former chief executive of E-Trade, would be the mortgage giant's third CEO in four years. An announcement could come as soon as tomorrow.

    Freddie is hated but it is absolutely RACKING UP profits right now.

     

    They are being killed by mandatory 10% interest payments to the Treasury.

     

    If the Treasury cuts that payment to 5% then the profits can finally drop down to the bottom line and then LOOK OUT ABOVE!!

    Interesting assessment DVL. What is your timeline for ending conservatorship? Think that the election matters as to whether they are wound down?
