Though Amazon's (AMZN) push into selling high fashion clothing could threaten retailers, in the end it may make brick-and-mortar stores stronger as they innovate, argues Walter Loeb. While shoppers could get pulled in by discounted pricing on lines from Michael Kors, Vivienne Westwood, and Catherine Malandrino at Amazon.com, the touch-and-feel nature of women shoppers and the security of the forgiving in-store mirrors could overwhelm the firm's grand plans.
