Windstream (WIN) -13.6% and the worst performer in the S&P 500 following its Q1 EPS miss. Costs rising 77% to $1.29B and declines in overall consumer service and wholesale revenues may not be helping either. Still, net profit more than doubled to $64.6M, boosted by the acquisition of PAETEC Holding.

That will teach them to "more than double their profit".

I'm not complaining about the reaction to the earnings report. Took the opportunity to add to my WIN position and cost average down a bit. Fine by me.

Im complaining. This have been a huge loser for me. Makes me wonder if they will keep losing, despite what I read as good moves by the company overall. I have to remember though, a good company doesn't necessarily mean a good stock...I'm holding for now.

I got out yesterday before the loss today. This company is highly leveraged and is taking on more debt. I don't see how they can maintain their dividend.

Windstream CEO Jeffery Gardner's answer: "We feel so good about our ability to pay this dividend for a very long time ... [T]he cash flow generation capability of this business we've never felt better about."

    I don't believe him.
