What's tempting Warren Buffett to get involved with Coty's bid to buy Avon (AVP), given all its problems, wonders David Weidner on MarketWatch. Buffett often buys into brand names, and it could be that he's in agreement with new CEO Sherilyn McCoy that Avon is an icon with "so much clear potential."

    That's exactly right. The brand value is tremendous. Look at Liz Claiborn, Talbots, etc. The value IS the brand in no small measure.
