U.S. retail sales of new video game hardware and software tumbled 32% Y/Y to $630M in April, according to market researcher NPD, including a 32% drop in hardware sales, a 42% drop in software sales and a 1% rise in sales of accessories. Weak software sales in part reflected “a very light release schedule in terms of the amount of compelling new games."
