Total (TOT) begins operations to kill its Elgin natural gas well in the North Sea that has been leaking since March 25. Total has been battling on two fronts to end the leak - which contributed to output issues in Q1 and is costing ~$2M/day - preparing both the top kill job and the simultaneous drilling of relief wells as a back-up plan.
