- A Massachusetts environmental advocacy group is suing Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) for what it calls "a decades-long campaign to discredit climate change."
- The group says local communities, including the area near the Everett terminal, have been harmed by XOM's alleged strategy of publicly denying the risks that its own scientists have known about for decades.
- XOM says the lawsuit is part of a "well-publicized, coordinated assault on [the company's] reputation," and that the Everett facility complies with federal and state environmental standards, including monitoring and treating groundwater.
