HGTV to launch as free-to-air channel in New Zealand

• Scripps Networks Interactive (NYSE:SNI -0.5%) is launching HGTV, its leading home/lifestyle brand in the U.S., as a free channel in New Zealand.
• That's the latest move in an overseas spread for the network, most recently across Asia and Australia.
• Canadian media firm Blue Ant Media is assisting SNI in the launch with its Auckland-based channel Choice TV.
• International results played the key role in the company's Q1 earnings beat early this month, with overseas revenues quintupling and the operation swinging to a profit from a year-ago loss.
