Toyota adds 1.6M vehicles to Takata recall

• Toyota (NYSE:TM) is calling back almost 1.6M additional American vehicles for front passenger side Takata (TKTDY) air bag inflators that could rupture.
• Earlier this month, Takata said it was declaring another 35-40M U.S. inflators defective at the urging of U.S. regulators, a move that more than doubles the number of inflators recalled.
• Other reports from 17 automakers recalling the faulty devices are due this week.
