- Roger Ailes has resigned his post as CEO of Fox News Channel (and Fox Business Network) and Chairman of Fox Television Stations effective immediately, Twenty-First Century Fox (NASDAQ:FOX -0.3%, FOXA +0.7%) says in a statement.
- He's reportedly staying on as a consultant likely for a couple of years.
- Rupert Murdoch will be chairman and acting CEO of the TV networks that Ailes is leaving behind.
- "Roger Ailes has made a remarkable contribution to our company and our country," Murdoch said in his statement. "Roger shared my vision of a great and independent television organization and executed it brilliantly over 20 great years."
- No comment in the statement about the sexual harassment lawsuit filed by former anchor Gretchen Carlson against Ailes, or the accusations leveled by other women at the network.
- Also no word about payments; a (likely draft) document floated this week suggested Ailes was in line for a golden parachute of $40M.
