- The six major networks had a combined 27.8M TV viewers watching Hillary Clinton's acceptance speech for the Democratic presidential nomination last night, Nielsen says -- a bit less than the 30M who watched Donald Trump receive the GOP nomination a week ago.
- The Republican finale prevailed in a seven-network view, 34.9M viewers to 33.3M.
- NBC (NASDAQ:CMCSA) led broadcast networks with with 4.52M viewers in the 10 p.m. hour, but it was trumped by overall leader CNN (NYSE:TWX) with 7.51M viewers, and by MSNBC, with 5.27M.
- Fox News (FOX, FOXA), a reliable leader for GOP coverage, was third among cable networks with 3.03M viewers.
- The Democratic convention averaged higher ratings over the length of the gathering, however, in comparison to the Republican convention.
