Southwest Airlines to unions: CEO is staying in post

• The board at Southwest Airlines (LUV +3.9%) says its CEO Gary Kelly is staying put, amid demands by unions for him to step down.
• Unions (including a pilots union as well as unions repping baggage handlers and ground workers) have been asking CEO Gary Kelly and COO Mike Van de Ven to exit their posts.
• In a letter, the company's board cited a long list of Kelly's achievements and says calling for his removal was without merit and reckless.
