- HMD Global -- the new company set to reintroduce Nokia (NYSE:NOK) brand phones -- has hired Pekka Rantala, former CEO of Rovio, the maker of game hit Angry Birds.
- Rantala will be chief marketing officer for HMD, which has an exclusive 10-year licensing deal to make Nokia brand phones and tablets. He was a 17-year Nokia veteran before joining Rovio last year.
- HMD's Nokia devices will run on Android, and will be manufactured and distributed by FIH Mobile (a unit of Foxconn). Nokia will receive royalties on sales of the devices.
