SAP co-founder/ex-CEO Hasso Plattner talks up the long-term potential of his company's Hana in-memory database at its Sapphire Now user conference. While admitting Hana will never fully replace traditional databases, Plattner predicts it will "become the foundation for most of [SAP's] applications," and thinks the performance demands of mobile users and big data applications will drive future growth. Bernstein thinks Hana sales could reach $750M this year and $4.4B in 2015.
