Futures and European stocks flat ahead of ECB meeting

  • Analysts are divided about whether the ECB adds to or extends it stimulus program at today's policy meeting - the 2nd post-Brexit gathering of the group. The policy statement is due at 7:45 ET, and Mario Draghi's press conference begins at 8:30.
  • Ahead of the results, U.S. stock index futures are essentially flat, as are European stocks. The Hang Seng was the big mover in Asia overnight, rising 0.75%.
  • The 10-year Treasury yield is flat at 1.539%, gold is up a hair, and oil is higher by 1.7% after the API last night reported a sizable decline in U.S. inventories.
