- CenturyLink (CTL +0.7%) says it's finished the biggest deployment of G.fast technology on the continent.
- The company installed the high-speed networking technology to 44 multi-dwelling units in Platteville, Wis., reaching nearly 800 apartments using existing copper and coaxial cable.
- The speeds provided by the service are provisioned at up to 500 Mbps and higher, CenturyLink says. That provides "de facto" fiber-to-the-home service over copper access lines, it says.
- CenturyLink had deployed true fiber-to-the-premises to most residential/business customers in Platteville last year, upgrading its Televideo TV service to its newer Prism TV.
