University of Tennessee upgrades networks with CommScope solution

• A University of Tennessee upgrade to its networks has come via CommScope's (NASDAQ:COMM +1.9%) Powered Fiber Cable System.
• The university used CommScope's system to upgrade security and deploy more wireless access points outside, without the need to run new power lines.
• The technology allows for delivering power over Ethernet (PoE) at 30 times the distance of traditional PoE. That means deploying new network points without electricians and hiding the access points in lampposts and existing street works.
