- Nielsen (NYSE:NLSN) is up 0.9% and at its highest point since late July, as it notes its expanding the use of its Portable People Meter -- increasing out-of-home viewing measurement and effectively doubling its sample size in 44 TV markets.
- The company currently uses PPM for audio measurement. Using it for local TV will mean including viewing numbers from more than 75,000 panelists across the 44 markets.
- The move is set for next year.
- Nielsen also plans a stand-alone service to offer clients in those 44 DMAs the ability to see incremental audience from out-of-home viewing (locations including bars, offices, hotel rooms, etc.).
