Wheeler REIT whacked as Brad Thomas reiterates caution

  • "There are way too many Kimco wanna-bees in the REIT sector and while a handful of them provide moat-like characteristics, a few should begin packing their bags with a one-way ticket back to the private sector," writes Seeking Alpha contributor Brad Thomas.
  • Wheeler Real Estate (WHLR -5.4%) may have a fat dividend, but it's a "sucker yield," says Thomas, noting the annualized pace of adjusted FFO in Q3 is likely to come in at $0.16-$0.17 vs. the annual payout of $0.21.
