Quest gets hacked

• Quest Diagnostics (NYSE:DGX) discloses an "unauthorized third-party intrusion" into an internet application on its network that occurred on November 26. The hacker accessed the MyQuest by Care360 internet app and obtained Protected Health Information on ~34K people. The accessed data included name, date of birth, lab results and, in some instances, telephone numbers, but did not include social security numbers, credit card numbers, insurance or other financial information. The company has notified the affected individuals and reported the incident to law enforcement.
• Management adds that it is taking steps to prevent any type of recurrence and is working with a cybersecurity firm to assist it in evaluating its IT systems.
