Hungry for ways to monetize the Kindle Fire, which it sells at a loss, Amazon (AMZN) is now selling ad space for the device's welcome screen. With a minimum commitment of $600K, the ads, which may or may not cover the current Kindle Fire, don't come cheap. Amazon already sells ad-supported versions of its Kindle e-reader, and is believed to generate $1B in annual revenue from product ads sold on Amazon.com.
