- Jim Gianopulos is set to take over as chairman and CEO at Paramount Pictures (VIA, VIAB) after the departure of longtime chief Brad Grey, Variety reports.
- Gianopulos, formerly chairman of Twentieth Century Fox, would have longtime studio executive Michael De Luca along as a deputy to oversee the film division, according to the report.
- De Luca left a role as president of production at Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2015 to take a production deal, during which he helped make the hit Fifty Shades films.
- Gianopulos was part of a second round of interviews that included former Universal exec Scott Stuber, rumored to be a target for a film leadership role at Netflix. Gianopulos has been linked to several top Hollywood jobs, including the top job at Legendary Entertainment.
