Kraft (KFT +0.1%) shareholders get to vote on Wednesday on whether they wish to approve "Mondelez" as the new name for the firm's global snack business after it has been at the receiving end of a number of jokes ever since the proposed name change was announced in March. The company wants to use the name to better represent its global market as it brings Oreos, Fig Newtons, and Cadbury products to new locales.

I think the name "Kraft" is global as it is, perhaps kraft 2 or kraft Sweets.

That's the worst name I've ever heard of. It's worse than "Moland Springs" from the Seinfeld episode.

"Mondelez" probably sounds French to some American non-french speakers. I wonder how much management spent to have some firm come up with one of the silliest names I've ever heard.
Does anyone believe the name has a meaning?

I'm an 84 year old Yankee and the name Mondelez isn't amusing to me. I think it is a poor choice; and to think we stock holders helped pay some kook for a name like that (I wonder what the price tag was?). I'm sure some school kids, world wide could have done better and been awarded a cash prize to help their education.

I sent KFT a letter telling them they had spent a lot of "good will" on the Kraft name so use that good will by adding something like. international, global or some other word with the gloal meaning. I am lookin forward to what they select. A name can mean a lot if it already has a reputation. Perhaps they should name it Viel Gluck.

How many people have to tell them the name sucks? I don't think my 490 share stake will reel them in though.
