Following years of prodigious spending, health insurers, doctors and hospital are making efforts to halve the growth in the U.S.'s $2.7T healthcare bill to bring it more in line with inflation. One problem, though, is that the more tests and procedures doctors and hospitals do, the more money they get.

  • Can't have open season by ambulance-chasing tort lawyers and expect medical providers to skimp on tests. It's legal defense, not medicine.

  • Make public unions pay co-pays and get some skin in the game.

     

    Qualify test for medicaid and whoever qualifies, make them pay co-pays and get some skin in the game.

     

    Force insurers to go across state lines for competitive bids and end the state run monopolies.
