Google (GOOG) could soon have another search controversy (previous) on its hands. Starting this fall, results shown by the company's product search engine will be influenced by how much retailers and advertisers pay. Meanwhile, Danny Sullivan notes Google's hotel and flight search results are now also influenced by ad purchases. The FTC might not be thrilled.

Agreed, a naive move by Google which is not very understandable. Why would they even risk move controversy, especially after the announcement of an investigation by the European Commission
