TiVo (TIVO -5.6%) slumps after Cisco (CSCO), whose Scientific-Atlanta unit is one of the world's top set-top box manufacturers, files a lawsuit to void four TiVo DVR patents. Cisco alleges TiVo has refused to license its technology for the sake of pursuing litigation related to the patents in question. Brean Murray notes Cisco has plenty of patents of its own it could use in litigation. Last year, TiVo reached a lucrative IP settlement with Dish Network and Echostar.
