Electronics Arts' (EA) deal with THQ is just one of several announcements EA is making today, courtesy of the E3 convention. EA is also releasing its anticipated SimCity Social Facebook game, which will compete with Zynga's (ZNGA) CityVille, and is introducing a $50/year premium service for its popular Battlefield 3 first-person shooter. The premium service comes as archrival Activision (ATVI) witnesses strong growth for the premium service available for its Call of Duty franchise.

sounds like EA is getting desperate. A Sim City on Facebook for free? Doesn't that just canniblize its paying customers of Sim games?
