As PC OEMs unleash a flood of Windows 8 (MSFT) hardware at Taiwan's Computex, Intel (INTC) is announcing deals with touch panel suppliers Cando, HannsTouch, TPK, and Wintek to guarantee an adequate supply of ultrabook touch panels over the next 12 months. Like Intel's other ultrabook investments, the company is motivated both by an interest in lowering its dependence on the MacBook Air (and thus Apple's whims), and dealing with the challenge posed by ARM-based (ARMH) systems.
