As expected, TiVo (TIVO) is counter-suing Cisco (CSCO) for patent infringement, after the latter company filed suit over the former's unwillingness to license its technology (allegedly for the sake of pursuing litigation). The dispute has formed even though TiVo has struck licensing deals with DirecTV, Comcast, and other pay-TV providers - perhaps the real issue is TiVo's unwillingness to license to a direct rival.
