Aubrey McClendon (CHK) reportedly has hired ex-SEC lawyer Marvin Pickholz to represent him in an SEC inquiry into $1.3B in personal loans he obtained from an investment firm doing business with the company. The SEC is said to be looking into whether the loans posed a conflict of interest or should have been disclosed to shareholders.

McClendon must not have the horsepower of Corzine. Corzine just disappeared and no one went looking for him. We'll see though, as potential litigation may be aimed at Corzine by MF Global Trustee.

There is only one Jon Corzine. Aubrey McClendon is a AA player compared to The Honorable Jon Corzine.

He runs MF Global into bankruptcy.
    He makes $2B vanish.
He raises money for The President.
He buys a chateau in France.
He gets to walk a free man.

He is the most interesting man in the world.

    Where is Jon Corzine?

Are you possibly suggesting that he is in fact doing the Dos Equis commercials? There is a striking resemblance...nothing a small amount of cosmetic surgery couldn't handle.

I surely hope that criminals currently in office and this administrations criminal friends are not prosecuted until after Obama is out of office. This way he has no way to pardon them before he leaves office.

Given the way AM always looked out for himself, I guess we should expect that the shareholders will be paying for the defense.

I can see Friday morning headline, Aburey used same attorney back in 1993 for a company truck accident so every headline will be reading he is getting bonus perks from him screaming how it is profiteering from the shareholders...

News is run by the bears and no one reading the news will look beyond the headlines to see what is actually in a filing or past company info...

The big investors have simply run out of gas with McClendon and want a return on their investment.
Icahn will be soliciting offers for the company. Nobody better at conducting an auction than Icahn. We might be surprised at the size of the offers. The company will be owned by a major by the end of the year.

Aubrey will start over and never go public.

Hired an ex-SEC lawyer, hey - never miss a chance to exploit special relationships. If things go well the lawyer can expand his practice with sufficiently friendly soon to be ex-SEC lawyers. Does the stench ever get strong enough?

Cameraguy--- So what is CHK worth on the open market to Co.s like XOM, COP, etc?? How about TOT or BP or China Oil and Gas? If NG remains at the $2.50 to 4.50 level what is CHK worth. If you believe that the Co owns proven reserves that are worth what they say they are--this has got to be a $45.00+ stock. Obviously Carl Ichan believes the Co is worth something more than the $17 to 18 per share price he paid for the stock I'm staying long
